Girls

I had a little get together for Hannah (since she's leaving for boot camp in a WEEK!!!) with my first small group girls. I love these girls!

L to R Me, Luke, Meghan, Brandi, Hannah, Heidi, Taylor, and Jones (JJ) Nikki and Liz aren't pictured. Notice what happens to Luke when he's around this many girls. lol Taylor was loving it...screaming to be the LOUDEST. lol

Notice the huge amounts of junk. Always present for such get togethers.
Salt and Vinegar chips, Twizzlers, BBQ, Chips and Salsa, Brownies, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Bunnies, Orange Soda and of course Turkey Hill Iced Tea for Hannah.

Stink Bug Anyone?

I've called Taylor stink pot. It seems to fit her well. After this weekend though I'm thinking stink bug might be a fitting name too. Saturday Taylor was strapped into her bouncer watching me get ready in the morning. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed she was chewing. I try to pray her mouth open against her will and at first I pulled out a little black thing. She was still chewing so I forced her mouth open to find a STINK BUG! I quickly swept it out and I naturally screamed for Nick. What I had pulled out the first time was a leg. {gag} It was a big daddy one too and it was flat as a pancake from her chewing on it. I then freaked out to Nick who laughed and thought it was funny. I called poison control to make sure there is nothing poisonous in them. The lady laughed and said you wouldn't believe how many calls they've gotten with stink bugs. She said it's the time of year and they are slow enough for infant to be able to grab. GROSS! She said she might have a sore mouth and belly...to just feed her and she should be fine. Lets just say her breath wasn't the greatest and I still gag thinking about it. lol

Solids, Crawling, Patty Cake and So Big

I have a couple FINALLY's.

FINALLY Last night was the first night that the babies ate all normal food. I made them a little sampler. I've been working with them on tolerating bananas at snack time. It cracks me up. I was getting so frustrated with their gagging, coughing and Taylor sometimes even throwing up....then BAM one day they get it. The same bananas as the day before but BOTH of them get the chewing idea the same day. I had been giving them tiny pieces of ripe banana off of my finger how we did the cheerios...then I moved to the spoon. Then I started giving them rice here and there and last night I went all out and gave them a little sampler. Taylor fought Nick a little by being fussy but she ate. She just took her good old time. Luke did really well and he was actually chewing instead of swallowing whole and gagging. He even seemed to enjoy it and finished everything but the chicken. They can keep one tiny piece of chicken in their mouths all night. lol. Hey I'm just happy they were eating everything else. It amazes me how they fought it for so many attempts and then it's like...OH OK...I guess I'll chew this now. I told Nick I was starting to think they were gonna eat applesauce til they were 18. lol I'm also secreting LOVING that they love sweet potato...because I do too and it gives me an excuse to buy them even though Nick doesn't eat them. Now for the sippy cups......

Sweet Potato, Chicken Broccoli Rice, Banana, Applesauce and Chicken.

FINALLY Luke is crawling!!! Not record speed but he is moving FORWARD now. He's getting more motivated and less frustrated. He pushes forward to get to things and is now up on his knees moving forward. He has a fascination with the door. He crawls to it and opens and closes it. He hot himself in the head and today hit Taylor in the head with it. The stinker loves opening and closing it. He gets tired and cries when Taylor takes things from him but it's adorable to see him now crawling to her and trying to take the toys she has. Pay back I suppose. Taylor runs all over him though. She crawls on him and over him. Luke's squealing less when she takes a toy now...he is trying to get it back now.

Another adorable first. I play patty cake a lot of mornings after I feed them their bottle. The other morning I said casually to Taylor. "You wanna play patty cake?" She started clapping all excited. I thought it was just coincidence so I kept asking her and she kept clapping. Adorable. Luke is raising his hands to "so big" pretty consistently too. It's so neat to see them acting out what is being said. Cute. Oh and I can't forget Taylor's sniffing thing. I have some pictures to come of that. She wrinkles up her nose and breaths in and out of her nose so she can hear it. It looks like she's mad when she does it. It's in the video where we tell her NO. Anyhow. She now repeats this as well. If I do it, she will do it. It's funny and cute of course.

Pride Fighters

This past Sunday my husband had the opportunity to give a sermon at our church. For anyone that knows Nick...are you surprised it involves boxing gloves? :) I'm extremely proud of Nick for how well he did, for his courage and boldness to speak. I was nervous for him, I can't imagine what he was feeling. I think he did a pretty awesome job for the first time he's ever done it. The holy spirit was there and the message touched a lot of people who have since talked to him. And really tell me...who do you know who doesn't struggle with pride. It comes in so many forms, often hidden in layers...it's the root of so many other sins. And as always, when God's speaking...the Word of God keeps after you. Our study for small group included this passage:

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart,
O God, you will not despise.
Psalm 51:17

Swing in the Park

These pictures were taken right before the babies got sick. It was funny to once again see their personality differences. Taylor LOVING the swing right off the bat...and Luke acting very timid and needing reassurance and a little getting used to time before he'd crack a smile. Luke holding on tight from the start. We had to place Taylor's hands around the swing to hold on because she wasn't afraid in the least and was rocking back and forth. I wish I would have thought about it then but I should have put them back to back in the swing. Taylor was too small and Luke would have filled the swing up nicely and kept her still.

Taylor being Taylor

I never thought to do this until today but with photo booth (mac) video...Taylor can see herself as we record, here are the results! By the way I am NOT bouncing her......merely holding her so she doesn't take off! It's all her. Crazy little woman.
