New Camera

I got a new Nikon D60 camera "for Christmas." The sale at Ritz was unbeatable, especially with all the extras it came with. Free printer, digital frame, 2 training DVD's, tickets for free classes, free photo bound book, and free prints. With the lens I got I also got a free bag. I'm thrilled with it, but I have a lot to learn. I've never had a Nikon before. I took some pictures to check the quality and it's a huge improvement from my point and shoot. Below I showed a sample at actual pixels of the quality difference. Both are 10 mega pixel cameras.

Sweet potatoes!

Don't even think about it.

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6, 7

It's the babies first Thanksgiving and boy do we have a lot to be thankful to God for this year. We went to my aunts, my dad's sister, and had lots of good food. My great Aunt Ann was therefrom NC by surprise and it was really nice to see everyone from that side of the family. The babies were in really good spirits and were happy. We took some video tonight after the babies thanksgiving dinner. They had Taylor's favorite, sweet peas and oatmeal. Then we played. They are so fun at this age. They make us laugh.

Luke is thankful for his hands. :)

Oatmeal, Grabbing and Peek-a-Boo

Babies are eating oatmeal now. They seem to like it. At first, they were a little confused about where their rice cereal went but now they are used to it. They are eating two meals and a snack now. Oatmeal and fruit, then a fruit or veggie, then oatmeal and veggie. I'm doing my best to mix up the colors of the rainbow for their nutrition. Miss T really seems to love sweet peas and Luke loves bananas. They are grabbing everything in sight now. Especially Miss T. She grabs my cell phone, the spoon, the bowl...I really gotta watch her....I put her bowl where I think it's outta reach on her high chair and in 2 seconds she grabbed and flips it. There is no outta reach zone for her anymore. Luke is cute....he stares at his bowl, then me and open his mouth wide. They are wanting to play in the food. Not sure I'm as ready as they are. What a mess that will be. Do they make raincoats for these occasions? Nick looks forward to letting them feed themselves. He said "all we have to do then is clean them up." I'd rather feed them then get sweet potatoes out of their hair and eyes. lol It will be fun to watch though. The stages are going so fast. They are both doing much better at eating. Taylor still bites her lips when she wants to pitch a fit but overall it's been much easier. I was playing peek-a-boo with them last night. Nick tried to video but they never fail to stare at the camera...you'd think they'd get used to it. I'll have to put some clips up. I have so much video, it's filling up my computer. lol Anyhow, last night they were in their high chairs while we ate dinner and I'd duck below their trays and then pop up.......they were cracking up laughing. It was sooo cute.

Why is it that the good shots are always the blurry ones....err
...they move too quick.
I need an "action" sport setting. lol

6 Month Check Up

Luke waiting while Taylor gets checked.

You're not gonna make me cry are you?

Look at the bright light...I don't trust that doctor.

Taylor weighing in at 15lbs 3oz.  and 25-1/2 long
Still in the 25th percentile for height and weight and 10th for head circumference.
She watches the staff closely. Miss stone cold.

Luke weighing in at 22lbs even. 27-1/2 long.
95th percentile for weight, 75th for height and 50th for head circumference.
Yes, the size of his head is average.

All is well with the babies. They are over their first cold and were checked out by the doc. He said babies average 12-18 colds per year...so get used to it. He said to call the doctor if they have a fever of 101+ for 4 days, are excessively uncomfortable or if the cold lasts for more than 2 weeks. He recommended the sleep book again. I keep forgetting to order it. It's called "Solving Your Child's Sleep Problems" by Richard Ferber. Taylor has been much better sleeping the past few nights but he said, that's a great time to get it and have the time to read it. :) He said we could move them to stage 2 foods, now that a bought stage 1 in bulk at BJ's. He also said soon we can try rice krispies and cheerios, and then small bits of bland table food once they get used to more texture. The babies did well with their shots this time. Fussy the day after but no fevers. Miss T screamed as usual, wanted her pacifier and then glared at the doctor, not taking her eyes off him until we left. Luke screamed, bright red face, and then whimpered while I cuddled him.

New foods this week have been carrots and squash. They seemed to like both. Taylor is reaching for my hands and sitting up although she doesn't stay there for long. Too hyper. Luke is sitting up nicely with a little help and he's rolling to his belly multiple times and back. They both like to sleep on their bellies now which is cute. It's hard to keep them on a blanket now. They just don't stay in one place anymore. Not even for s second. :) It's getting busier.

Things Happening

Lots of things have been happening.....sleep is not one of those things. lol Since Taylor is in the nursery with Luke and since they have been sick it's been crazy at night. Nick's getting better from his cold and I'm trying but the lack of sleep is prolonging it.

Cute things....Taylor is reaching for our faces now, she likes touching them. Luke is a rolling man now and is even sitting up on his own for short periods. Taylor, she just wants to stand. Forget sitting. She likes to yell at the dog......she screams in delight when she sees him. Luke is continuing to fight his naps....screaming and screaming. He loves making fart noises and playing with his hands. Since he's been sick he would cough and end it with making all sorts of noises. His sore throat made some new sounds and he was having a ball with that. Taylor has been a bird about eating. The little stinker. Sometimes she decides she will scream. If I sing to her I can usually get her to finish. A bad habit. I'll tell ya........do a deer a female deer....ray....a drop of golden sun.......has been my saving grace. Dunno why it works, but it does. I've also been tricking her by adding some applesauce or bananas in when feeding her....it keeps her going in case she gets the sweets. :) Babies go to the doc for their 6 month appt. tomorrow....we'll see how their colds are and what they weigh now. :)

Happy 1/2 Year Old!

Things have been a hectic and I'm just getting these pictures up. The babies have officially gotten their first cold and it's no fun. They have been waking each other up crying and I'm getting very little sleep. They haven't had any fever at all just congestion, and coughing. Taylor moved to the nursery with her brother on Saturday. It's made it more difficult for me to run back and forth at night. It's tough with twins because when we would normally let them cry it out (which is hard for me anyhow) we don't want one to wake the other so we're more quick to soothe them. I've heard that they will get used to each others crying....so far...I beg to differ. They wake each other and then egg each other's crying. With them being sick, I like to check up on them more when they cry but I'll tell ya...this week had been exhausting. Nick and I both have the bug too and even though I'm the one getting up, I know it's waking him as well. This isn't even a bad cold.....Lord help us if they get the flu. :) The doc said to use saline drops and suction them out, elevate the bed, use a humidifier, and steam treatments. That all aside, the babies have been cute...grabbing for everything they can reach and discovering Ali. Taylor squeals at him and they both watch him intently. I've also noticed, they are both getting necks! lol
